Sweetness. Spice. Addictive Flavour. You really can’t go wrong with that, right? If you love this combo, look no further than our Jaew Chili Spread from the JOCO Foods Company. We are a Toronto-based food retail company co-founded by Jhoan Molin (JO) and Chloe Man (CO). Our company specializes in the creation and distribution of unique sauces and spreads.

Jaew Chili Spread is almost like a modernized Asian salsa to be honest. There is nothing quite like it in the market that has that sweetness, spice and addictive flavor with a spread like consistency. Not to mention that it is the closest replacement to Sriracha, with the added benefits of being gluten free, low in fat, low in calories, low in sodium and high in vitamin C. Now, a lot of you may be wondering, “what is Jaew?” You shouldn’t really eat something that you can’t even pronounce, right? Actually, scratch that because if it tastes good (and trust me, it does), you should definitely eat it regardless of its name! All jokes aside, let’s find out what Jaew is and its origins.

What is Jaew?

Jaew (แจ่ว) is a well-known dipping sauce originating from Southeast Asia, primarily Thailand and Laos. It consists of a sweet and smokey taste. Jaew is inspired by Southeast Asia and is a staple in many traditional Thai families. It is important to note, however, that there is no definitive Jaew recipe, as each family has their own unique way of making Jaew. Typically speaking though, Jaew is usually made with dried red chillies. The chillies are toasted over open flame and pounded into tiny flakes. Our Jaew Chilli Spread has a mouthwatering (yes, it’s true) combination of sweetness and spice. It will captivate your taste buds and is a perfect addition to any of your favourite dishes. Did I mention that our Jaew Chilli Spread is highly addictive? Oops, I did, but who doesn’t love repetition?

Locally Sourced Ingredients

At JOCO Foods, we are committed to using the freshest ingredients from local suppliers that contain zero preservatives and additives. Also, we wanted to benefit the health conscious customer. To accomplish that, Jaew Chilli Spread is certified Gluten Free, Low in Fat, Low in Calories, and Low in Sodium with a high source of Vitamin C. What does this all mean? That the Jaew Chilli Spread will not only satisfy all your cravings, but it is also a very healthy spread. In most cases, you get one or the other, but our Jaew Chilli Spread encompasses all your needs.

When to Use Jaew?

You can really use our Jaew Chilli Spread on just about anything! You can scoop it or spread it. Here are a list of food items you can use it for:

  • Avocado + Toast
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Wraps + Sandwiches
  • Grilled Meats
  • Fried Chicken
  • Pizzas
  • Pastas
  • Fish Tacos
  • Rice Dishes
  • Marinades + Dips

And there’s plenty more where that came from! The options are endless!

Inspiration

As mentioned previously, Jaew (แจ่ว) originates from Southeast Asia and is a staple condiment using thai red chilli as its base. Every Southeast Asian family has their own unique way of making Jaew. Using this as our basis, we got to thinking: Jaew is not a staple in the western market. Keeping this in mind and catering to its traditional roots, we wanted to take a versatile approach to recreating a sweet, spicy, and highly addictive Jaew Chilli Spread for the western market. With evolving taste buds and a growing trend for flavour and spice, we wanted to create a unique yet versatile product which would appeal to Toronto’s multicultural food scene and that’s what we did with Jaew Chili Spread. So, if you are a foodie at heart, just love trying new things, or you really, really love chilli, look no further than our Jaew Chilli Spread.
